how do u connect a portable dvd player to a tv?

i received a portable dvd player for christmas. it works great. funny thing though right after i got that my home dvd player quite working! and we don’t have a new one yet. i saw that you can plug the portable dvd player into the tv… but i need to know what cord to buy. if ne one could help i would greatly appreciate it! i miss my movies!
